Among the leading art galleries in Charleston SC ’s historic French Quarter, Dog & Horse Fine Art is highly regarded as a preeminent source for dog and horse art and portraiture. Since its debut in 2001, it remains the only art gallery in the world that specializes in artwork with this subject matter by living artists exclusively. Artists work in a wide array of styles ranging from hyper realistic to abstract and minimalist. Expertly sourced and curated, inventory of fine art consists of painting, jewelry, and sculpture, by artists living and working today. Both experienced and inexperienced art buyers are guaranteed to find the right artist to suit their taste and budget.
Both experienced and inexperienced art buyers are guaranteed to find the right artist to suit their taste and budget. In an effort to nurture and cultivate talent, the gallery now represents a select few artists whose work falls outside the dog and horse genre, but who the owner believes show extraordinary promise and demonstrate artistic integrity. A natural extension of animal subject matter are narrative and folk paintings which can be found in abundance.
Jaynie Milligan Spector established Dog & Horse Fine Art twenty years ago. Spector earned an art degree with Sotheby’s in London. She then spent her formative years of her career, as an art advisor throughout the Southeast and in New York City as well as at Christie’s Contemporary Art Department, followed by several years working at an art gallery in SoHo. From her extensive and substantive experiences in the art world, she has the ability to intelligently and tactfully source and identify artistic talent, judge quality, and navigate the complex art market. Although the gallery focuses on primarily living artists, Spector has built important collections for clients of 19th-21st century art as an independent art advisor which she is able to do with her contacts for the finest sources in the United States and in England.
