Anita Baarns was born in Fontainbleu, France, but moved to The Netherlands as a child where her artistic talents first appeared in Nijmegen, her family's homeland. She moved to the United States completing her study of fine art by graduating summa cum laude from the University of Maryland. Ms. Baarns currently creates oil paintings and pastels of horses and hounds or dogs, either with or without landscape backgrounds or portraits of their owners. Her work has been featured in many publications, as well as in museum exhibitions. In 2006, a selection of her dog paintings was displayed at The Museum of the Dog of the American Kennel Club.
