Catrina Monroe

Description

C.B. Monroe is a self-taught artist, who grew up in the country surrounded by horses, dogs, fields, woods, and water; always riding, always drawing. She began her painting career as a portrait painter, painting mostly children, and later focused on painting animals, horses and dogs in particular. Monroe works primarily in oils, but also enjoys sketching in pastel pencil, graphite, and ink. She admires and draws inspiration from painters such as Vermeer, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, and Joaquin Sorolla, as well as graphic artists and illustrators such as Milton Glaser, N.C. Wyeth and Bernie Fuchs. She has had exhibitions in Denver, Colorado; Highlands, North Carolina; and Florence, Alabama. Her paintings have been featured on magazine covers, The Chronicle of the Horse and Bliss.   Click to view examples of past commissions below.
