Description
Magical outdoor realism in a grand scale is a fascinating conversation piece for an important indoor space. Kathryn Freeman, American, was living in London and visiting serene Hyde Park when she found inspiration for this charming narrative oil. The narrative painting is reminiscent of George Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". A relaxing afternoon in a glorious park setting with animals and people reading, lake fishing, boating, sunbathing, picnicking and flirting. The painting is chock full of symbolism.
“I have always been interested in the writings of Carl Jung and the idea that there is a language of archetypal images or symbols that can be interpreted universally. There are certain images that appear repeatedly in my paintings such as dogs, birds, horses and other animals, trees, hearts -- all images from everyday life but also ones that kindle deeper interpretation." - Kathryn Freeman
Freeman’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited in New York, London, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, Charleston and other cities in the United States and Europe. Her paintings are in numerous private and public collections and she has completed several large-scale public murals. There are nicks on the simple strip wood frame which was a very standard frame used in the 1980's - so it would be considered a period frame.
