Robert Zakanich:  Good Dog

ArtWalk Opening Reception Friday, October 5

5:00-8:00 p.m.

Exhibition on view through October 27, 2018

“A wild collision between freewheeling bohemian abandon and

settled-down domestic sociability.”

That’s renowned critic David Pagel describing Robert Zakanitch’s work. It’s true: one cannot attend a Zakanitch exhibition without being happily transformed.

One of American contemporary art history’s most important figures, Zakaitch was a founder of the Pattern and Decoration movement in the 1970s (possibly the last art movement in modern art history). He has been represented by many of the top galleries in Manhattan. This fall he will be traveling through Europe with The Ludwig Collection which includes his paintings. He will also have shows in Lyon, France, and Los Angeles.  The Charleston exhibition will include illustrations which are featured in his children’s book, Good Dog, published by Random House.

His book, A Garden of Ordinary Miracles, will be available for purchase, as well as his new biography, Zakanitch: Robert Rahway, by David Pagel and John DeFazio.
